Who's Business Do Your
Emails Promote ??!!

Hello %%First Name%%

I know I have mentioned this in the past, but recently I have noticed many of the email communications coming through from people, are still using the email address given to them by their service provider or a free email service. So I thought I would quickly remind everyone again to be aware of this and what to do.

i.e.: myname @bigpond.com / myname @hotmail.com /
myname @optusnet.com.au / myname @gmail.com / and others…

Using the provider email address means each email you send promotes the name and web address of your ISP or free email service, instead of yours.

Now I do understand why some people do this intentionally, but I assure you that what ever reason you can give me, I can tell you a way to do the same while using your own domain address in your email.

And what's the problem with this you might ask?...

Brand & Promote Your Own Company In Your Email:

Each email you send promotes the provider’s and not your business’s web address i.e. johnb @bigpond.com.au instead of johnb @mycompanyurl.com.au. So you are missing a great opportunity to promote and brand your business.

If you change service providers you lose that email address and could lose countless opportunities as you need to convince all your contacts, prospects, clients and suppliers to update their records.

Using ISP email addresses and especially free email services in your address can make your business look unprofessional and can possibly cause suspicion. (Have you noticed how many of those spam emails use Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.?! So you don’t want to cause any doubt, but rather let people see you are who you say you are.)

If you use a free account such as Yahoo or Hotmail or Gmail or similar, you have no control over the account if there are issues (can take days/weeks to get access issues resolved which I have experienced first-hand).

There are many different email programs and systems in use today, so to get instructions simply Google something like “how to change my email display name in xxxx”. It is very simple and easy in all programs.

Although I still don’t recommend using the free email provider accounts for business, if you still wish to use these, they can be setup to display your domain email and/or check your POP email of your domain.
Your hosting company should provide you with Webmail as a standard part of your hosting, which will do the same job as the free email providers and yet keeps it all more under your control.

Another very important point is to ensure you have a ‘complete’ display name for yourself! We all suffer from junk mail overload, and I'm sure most of you reading this spend the first 10 minutes each morning separating your junk mail from your real mail. So if the recipient receives and email from 'John' or 'John Barnaby', chances are if they are not very familiar with your first and last name, they will look at it and chuck it straight in the junk mail folder! So always have your name accompanied by your business name.

i.e.: John Barnaby, Your Company Name

This helps identify you and further brand your business.

If you require help to setup a suitable email or hosting system for your business, of course we are happy to assist you with this.

If you have any topics you would like me to address in these newsletters, or have further questions on this topic or anything else, please don't hesitate to contact us on support@redbackstudios.com.au or Reply to this mailing.

Warm regards

Laurence

Just Imagine!...

People come to your site because they are interested in your product/service, yet the opportunity to find out who is visiting your site is missed by focusing on just design, rather than marketing. Just think… if you had the contact details of those interested visitors from your site & made regular contact with them... what an impact that could have on sales?!

Testimonial

Redback Studios recently upgraded our Wine IP website; www.wineip.com.au and it has a very smart look and is simple and easy to navigate. The process for us as a business was easy and Laurence extremely helpful and understood what we were seeking; which reduced the costs in time and money. Redback also hosts our website and have been able to help us with technical problems that have arisen outside their responsibility. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Redback to design, develop and maintain your website presence.
